"And now I'm the sensitive one having my own opinion." I love hearing about your evolution in body image, Selene, I also think that cultural norms about fixing wrinkles and laugh lines and sagging necks and not-perfectly-straight noses (e.g., mine) with plastic surgery are terribly destructive for women everywhere, but particularly for HSPs.

We can learn self-acceptance and to stand up against false beauty standards.

Thank you, Carol, for your words.

I agree. Only if more women actually become aware of it so it can start shifting.

This is so true. I think we hear so much about how our bodies should look that after a point we don’t even need anyone else to judge us, we start doing it ourselves automatically.

and that part about your own opinion becoming the strongest one… i really love that. There is so much peace in looking at your body and not immediately thinking about what needs to change. I think that kind of unshakable acceptance is so important. Not that you stop caring about your body, but you stop being at war with it all the time

Thank you, Rupika, for taking the time for reading and commenting on my article.

I know the experience of ichthyosis and gain weight is something different but I can say that now I am more happy with myself than I was ever before (even though before I was skinnier and my dry skin could be hidden most of the year).

And that war, you are mentioning, I believe is very important not only for our own feeling but for our health as well.
