Selene -- what a long and painful, yet ultimately healing, journey you've had. Your story is so poignant and full of the difficulties so many of us HSPs face. I'm glad you've shared so intimately, but so sorry you've been through all this.
You demonstrate the side of being highly sensitive that cam redeem all the difficulties in our lives: we are resilient -- more so than other, less sensitive people -- and respond with a deep ability to change with energy and creativity when we leave an unhealthy environment for a healthy one.
Your daughter can learn from you, how marvelous for her!
Thank you, Carol, for your sweet words. Even for me, writing this gave me an opportunity to see my life from a perspective I hadn’t fully seen before putting it into words.
Being on a good path in one’s life is such a rewarding feeling.
I’m happy my article resonated with you. Let’s see how my daughter sees all of this years from now 🙂
"I don’t know about you, but my mind easily moves towards negative possibilities, really the worst catastrophic scenarios you can imagine." That is a downside to the beauty of high sensitivity, Selene. I certainly recognize it. But your experiences in your youth will definitely play a role. You had to fight so hard to hold your own as a child. I sympathize with you, and it is amazing how you have transformed everything you have been through into a beautiful life with your daughter.
Thank you so much, Diana. This means a lot to me, especially coming from someone whose writing about high sensitivity touched me so much lately.
And yes, I think you are right that my earlier experiences play a big role in where my mind can go. What feels especially beautiful to me now is that in trying to create a safer and more suitable life for my highly sensitive daughter, I somehow created one for myself too. I think we are both thriving from it. 🩵
