Finding My Pseudonym: Why Selene?

When it came time to choose a pseudonym for my writing, I knew I wanted something that allowed me to keep my privacy while still connecting with my audience in a meaningful way. After all, I’m sharing personal stories and insights, and I believe it’s not necessary for my readers to know my face to trust my words. Originally, I thought about something like Lady Whistledown—because who doesn’t love a bit of intrigue? But, to be honest, all the "Lady" names sounded a bit too… well, erotic, and let’s face it, I’m not here to write about scandals or intrigue. It was my husband’s idea to explore a mythology-related persona, and that’s when I discovered Selene.

Selene represents intuition, femininity, and the cyclical nature of life—everything that resonates with me and my work at More Than Enough. She drives her chariot across the night sky, lighting up the darkness, and that felt symbolic of what I want this platform to be: a guiding light for those navigating the ups and downs of life, parenting, health, and everything in between.

But here’s the fun part—Selene also carries a sense of mystery. Just like the moon hides part of itself, I wanted my pseudonym to offer a little bit of that “veil of secrecy.” It’s my way of keeping the focus on the message rather than the messenger.

The moon’s light reveals only what is needed, keeping the rest in shadow—a reminder that not everything must be shown to hold power.

Selene is a powerful and evocative figure whose attributes align well with my focus on holistic well-being and personal growth. Her name evokes a sense of mystery and elegance, resonating with themes of healing and transformation. By choosing her, I’m embracing these qualities and inviting you to join me in exploring the cycles of life, finding balance, and discovering how we can grow and transform in our own ways.

My Selene is also a woman of many faces and personalities, like you and me, but she embodies the same values in all her forms.
