Dear Sensitive Reader,
Some of us move through ordinary life feeling as though it takes more from us than it seems to take from other people. The pace, the demands, our environments, relationships, even things we enjoy can leave a deeper mark. And often, the body is where that cost becomes hardest to ignore.
More Than Enough is for highly sensitive women who are trying to understand what their sensitivity changes in the way they live, feel and heal. A large part of what I explore here is what changes when high sensitivity becomes the main lens through which we understand ourselves, our needs and the way we move through life.
My story
I came to this understanding slowly, over two decades, and mostly through my own body.
For years, I lived with chronic health issues and kept looking for ways to feel better, exploring many different physical and psychological approaches along the way.
It was through becoming a mother that I first discovered high sensitivity and began learning more about developmental psychology. That understanding gradually changed the way I looked at myself too: at my own childhood, the way I had learned to move through the world, and the expectations I had placed on my body for years.
I began to see that I had spent much of my life treating my sensitivity as something I needed to manage, while continuing to adapt myself to what was expected of me. Gradually, I started paying more attention to what I actually felt, needed and had capacity for.
Over time, living with my sensitivity rather than against it became a major part of reducing the chronic health issues I had been dealing with. I also began to understand how much my environment, the sense of safety I experienced, and the conditions in which healing happened mattered. These changes have shaped the way I now understand my body and the questions I continue to explore in my writing.
What I share here comes from lived experience. I share what I try, question, keep and leave behind in my own sensitive body, and how my understanding changes as I learn more.
That can take me into healing approaches, movement, pace and recovery, relationships, motherhood, emotional life, or the ordinary situations in which sensitivity quietly changes what feels possible or what fits. I am especially interested in the difference between what is generally supposed to work and what actually works when high sensitivity is part of the equation.
I hope the writing here can offer you another way of looking at your own experience, not an answer you are supposed to copy. Sometimes recognizing why something affects you so deeply can be enough to make a different choice feel possible.
I write under the pseudonym Selene, named after the Greek goddess of the moon, whose connection to intuition, cycles and mystery resonates with what I write about. Writing this way allows me to share personal parts of my life while showing that a deeply personal message does not require giving up your own privacy or your family’s.
Sensitive Enough Movement
Sensitive Enough Movement is the private paid membership within More Than Enough, where highly sensitive women gather around their sensitivity and take that understanding further. Inside, I go deeper into more private, complex and comparative writing, especially around healing approaches and experiences that need more context, while we also connect with one another through our questions and experiences of sensitivity in everyday life.
If you want to become part of the Movement, you are warmly welcome to join us.
I appreciate that you spent some of your sacred energy to read about my publication. If you feel the sensitive spark, you can continue reading here:
